About us
Food Depot is founded by hospitality lovers Danni and Rodney Hang, together they are the proud founders of Country Bake Northland, which they still operate today and are the reason for Food Depot.
Back in the early days of COVID, with lockdowns in full swing and supply chains breaking down, it became almost impossible to get consistent food stock up here in Northland. Small food businesses like Country Bake were struggling, shelves were empty, and deliveries just weren’t coming through. Hard to make pies with no flour. So, we decided to do something about it.
From our humble beginings, after much planning almost 12 months later in July 2021 we set up business at the back of Bream Bay laundromat sharing space with a coffee roasting business, with a fire in our belly and a lot of faith and not much else at the time. Food Depot was born. We believed in ourselves and wanted to be the disrupter to the market.
What started as a way to help our local community get the food supplies they needed quickly grew into something bigger, we have continued to procure more products as we got to know our amazing customers. Today, we supply a wide range of quality wholesale food products to bakeries, cafés, restaurants, caterers, and other small businesses across the region—and we haven’t looked back.
We’re proud to offer reliable service, fair pricing, and a solid range of fresh, frozen, and dry goods. Whether you're after everyday essentials or something a bit more niche, we’ll do our best to get it to you—on time and hassle-free.

Founder and chief visionary, Danni is the driving force behind the company. She loves to keep her hands full by participating in every aspect of the business, can and will do to help. Mum of 5 amazing little people. Loves cooking, baking then trying the goods. Passionate about people and business.
Rodney Hang
Support chief of decisions
Co-founder of Food Depot, he started baking in 2001, and has grown his passion for hospitality businesses, he loves being able to help other small businesses and connecting with people. Rodney loves supporting the team, and he is always on the lookout for deals to bring to the Depot.
Kate Still
Chief of managing money things
Kate is super organized, is a super lover of excel, and with her extensive experience and knowledge of accounting and admin, she is the backbone of the administration of company and with all things related to money. Our Kate keeps everyone in line, well fed with Kimchi and organized in the office.
Terisha Mohanlall
Chief of spending money
Teri is super multi talented, she did procurement back home in South Africa, and loves shopping which is perfect for her main role, which is to keep Food Depot's shelves stocked. Her personality is heard before she seen, she is dynamic, vivacious and is always organized and reviewing supply to keep our suppliers working hard for our customers.
Mocha Rainbow-Cupcake Hang
Chief of Security
Tasked with the very important job of protecting the company office, and alerting team when there is a visitor. Mocha likes to sunbathe, be fed and have his tummy scratched.
